Sackets Harbor Battlefield - War of 1812 Living History Camp
Discover the life of War of 1812 soldiers and laundresses at the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site this summer.
The site’s seasonal interpreters show visitors how American troops loaded and fired muskets, and how women cooked over a fire, did laundry, and perfected handy-work.
Watch the cooks make switchel, hard tack “ships biscuits,” gingerbread, barley soup, apple cake, pease porridge, or honey bread.
Be surprised! Different demonstrations each day in camp bring history to life.
Unless it is a rainy day, living history camp demonstrations are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 10am to 4pm, in the site’s memorial tree grove at the end of West Main Street.
